Lucid Absurdities
When dream and reality collide What happens when two strangers meet in a moment of waiting – and the boundaries between their inner worlds begin to crumble? In Lucid Absurdities, the audience is invited into an intense and surreal universe where dreams, memories and desires flow seamlessly into reality. The performance begins in a recognizable space: an airport, a place of stopovers, delays and chance encounters. Two strangers are stuck in a long wait. When they fall asleep

Chasing Butterflies
Finding the balance between ambition and presence The performance Chasing Butterflies by the Swedish company Majeko takes as its starting point the gap between constantly wanting to move forward, and being able to be present where one is. In a time when pace, achievement and progress often take control, the dancers investigate what happens in the space between – between ambition and calm, between pressure and presence. Through movement, they highlight experiences that many

Movement as memory – place as responsibility
10 years of movement, resistance and emergence IN2IT International Dance Festival marks ten years of presence, resistance and emergence. “A Thousand Steps, One Place” is a reflection on every step we have taken – not just as a festival, but as a living and breathing force for cultural change. Over the past decade, we have crossed boundaries of identity, language and tradition, carrying with us the necessity of dance as a social practice – a practice that listens, that speaks

Ten years of IN2IT – a journey in movement, belonging and vision
Interview with Tendai Makurumbandi Artistic director of the IN2IT International Dance Festival Can you share the artistic vision behind this year's IN2IT festival – what ideas or emotions did you want the festival to evoke this year? This year's theme, "A Thousand Steps, One Place," is about the many invisible steps that shape a journey — the quiet beginnings, the perseverance, the moments of doubt and renewal. When I look back at how IN2IT began, I see not just a festival,

Highlights from the In2IT festival
This year's anniversary edition of the In2IT festival is over, and we are left with wonderful memories - told through bodies, movement and encounters. The four days of performances, artistic encounters, seminars and workshops reminded us of the importance of dance, not just as something to watch, but as something to take part in. It was particularly moving to experience the audience's response along the way – how they became co-creators of the festival through active particip

The Basement - a living tribute to forgotten women's fates
When we release our early bird festival passes today, 30% off at 1:00 PM, we can also lift the veil on one of next year's great festival experiences: The Basement , by Jo Strømgren - one of Norway's most renowned choreographers. Beyond Emergencies – Dance as a Practice of Agency
By Tendai Makurumbandi, Artistic Director In Norway, we rarely speak of emergency in relation to the body. The systems around us function. Structures are in place. Safety nets exist. And yet, many bodies live with a constant sense of readiness — a quiet pressure to perform, adapt, and regulate themselves. To function well. To keep pace. This condition is not always visible. It does not announce itself as crisis. But over time, it shapes how bodies move, rest, relate, and take

fifty ways to leave a shape
Navigating change through the body Fifty Ways to Leave a Shape is a personal solo performance by dance artist Siri Jøntvedt (NO). The work explores the experience of having to say goodbye to a part of the body – specifically two worn-out hip joints. It is a profound and transformative experience that can open up a new way of facing life. For a dancer, this also involves a shift in perspective and influences artistic expression. Through song, film, text and dance, the audien

When a city moves together
Every year, the curation of IN2IT begins long before the program is put together. It starts with listening. Listening to the rhythms of the times we live in. Listening to the questions that move through artists. Listening to what bodies carry – often before language finds its form. Gradually, a landscape begins to emerge. Not a collection of performances, but a field of encounters. Because a festival, at its deepest, is not something we just attend. It is something we step in
